For some years now, Japanese cuisine has made its way into our culinary and gastronomic habits. Sushi is undoubtedly the star dish, thanks to its simple preparation and versatility when it comes to complementing it with different flavors and textures. In our country, we are increasingly accustomed to this typical oriental food but we make mistakes when it comes to enjoying its delicacies, if we look closely the way it is done here has nothing to do with it than there. Therefore, we are going to give you some tips to be and look like true experts when eating sushi according to Japanese protocol.

º SUSHI IS EATEN WITH THE HAND. Although we have become accustomed to eating it with chopsticks (there are also those who play it safe and use a fork) the correct way to eat sushi is with your hand and in one bite. It is not worth leaving half on the plate, well-made sushi has to be the size of a bite so that it is not heavy.

º DO NOT BATHE THE SUSHI IN SOY. We are used to dipping sushi in sauce and experts tell us that soy has a high salt content, this means that if we wet the rice and fish too much, the soy will take away all the flavors of the sushi. So, little sauce and be careful, we will always dip the piece on the fish side, since the rice is sufficiently seasoned and does not need to enhance its flavor as much as the fish.

rd WE WILL NEVER MIX WASABI WITH SOY… This is a fairly widespread custom in our country, what we do not know is that the beauty of wasabi is its spicy point, among other nuances, and the fact of combining it with soy is absurd since You only get a salty and spicy effect when you mix it, plus an ugly mess of sauce.

º GINGER NEVER… It will be mixed with sushi, this pickle is served to cleanse the palate between bites, so that the flavors of the fish mix.

º THE CHICKS. One of those tricks that makes you look very impressive: when we take a piece of sushi from a shared tray, it is best to turn our chopsticks over so that we do not touch the food on the side that we have put in our mouth. From the tray to our plate. Finally, when you finish eating, we will leave the chopsticks resting on a small piece of ceramic specifically for that purpose and not on the plate.
